The combination of sausage and cheese is like a symphony of flavors. Each bite is a harmonious blend of richness and zesty goodness.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium portobello mushrooms

  • 1/4 lb mild Italian sausage

  • 1/2 block cream cheese

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (reserve about 1 tsp for topping)

  • Garnish Topping
  • Reserved Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp Italian bread crumbs or panko

  • 1 tsp green onion tops or chives

Directions

  • Gently remove the stems from your mushrooms, creating little edible cups. Don’t toss those stems—we’ll use them later!
  • Pre-heat oven to 375°F
  • In a pan, sauté the crumbled Italian sausage until it’s browned. Mix in the reserved mushroom stems for extra flavor.
  • Blend sausage mixture with cheeses, and fill each mushroom cap with a generous spoonful of the sausage mixture.
  • Mix together reserved parm and bread crumbs. Sprinkle over stuffed mushroom
  • Pop those stuffed mushrooms into the oven for about 15 minutes or until the top is golden.
  • Top with green onions or chives. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Pair these little gems with a glass of red wine or a crisp Italian lager.
